Introductory Mathematics

Credit: 1
Grade: 9-10
Weight: S
Prerequisite: Math 8
Learn the topics covered in the first half of Algebra I and review pre-algebra topics.

Algebra I

Credit: 1
Grade: 9-12
Weight: S
Prerequisite: Math 8
Study algebraic concepts that include operations with real numbers and polynomials, relations and functions, creation and application of linear functions and relations, and an introduction to nonlinear functions.

Geometry

Credit: 1
Grade: 9-12
Weight: S
Prerequisite: Algebra I
Study Geometric concepts building upon middle school topics. Students will move from an inductive approach to deductive methods of proof in studying geometric figures. Two and three-dimensional reasoning skills will be emphasized and students will broaden their use of the coordinate plane to include transformations of geometric figures.

Geometry Honors

Credit: 1
Grade: 9-11
Weight: HN
Prerequisite: Algebra I with recommendation from teacher.
Cover the Geometry curriculum and extend concepts to include higher levels of critical thinking, problem analysis and enrichment activities.

Technical Math II

Credit: 1
Grade: 10-12
Weight: S
Prerequisite: Technical Math I or Geometry
Continue your study of advanced algebraic concepts that include linear, quadratic, and exponential functions and matrices. Students will move from an inductive approach to deductive methods of proof in the study of geometric figures. Two and three-dimensional reasoning skills will be emphasized and student will broaden their use of the coordinate plane to include transformation of geometric figures. Emphasis will be placed on practical applications, "hands-on" and modeling.

Foundations of Algebra

Credit: 1
Grade: 10-12
Weight: S
Prerequisite: Geometry
Study algebraic concepts including functions, polynomials, rational expressions, and complex numbers, systems of equations and inequalities, and matrices. Emphasis will be placed on practical applications and modeling.

Algebra II

Credit: 1
Grade: 10-12
Weight: S
Prerequisite: Geometry
Study advanced algebraic concepts including functions, polynomials, rational expressions, and complex numbers, systems of equations and inequalities and matrices. Emphasis will be placed on practical applications and modeling.

Algebra II Honors

Credit: 1
Grade: 10-12
Weight: HN
Prerequisite: Geometry or Geometry Honors
Cover the Algebra II curriculum and extend the concepts to include higher levels of critical thinking, problem analysis and enrichment activities.

Pre-Calculus Honors

Credit: 1
Grade: 11-12
Weight: HN
Prerequisite: Algebra II Honors
Study trigonometry, as well as advanced algebra topics, analytic geometry, sequences and series and data analysis. Included also is an introduction to limits and elementary derivatives.

Advanced Functions and Modeling

Credit: 1
Grade: 11-12
Weight: S
Prerequisite: Algebra II or Algebra II Honors
Make your fourth year of mathematics a study of the concepts of statistics while reviewing and extending the concepts and skills studied in Algebra II. This will fulfill the course requirement necessary to admission to a UNC school while enabling you to broaden your knowledge of mathematics to include applied statistics. This course should not replace Pre-Calculus, or Pre-Calculus Honors.

Calculus I

Credit: 1
Grade: 11- 12
Weight: HN
Prerequisite: Pre-Calculus Honors
Begin with a study of the concepts of calculus, including functions, limits, derivatives. Strengthen skills and concepts from Precaluclus Honors with an emphasis on geometric, numerical and analytical and verbal expression of concepts, results and problems.

AP Calculus

Credit: 1
Grade: 11- 12
Weight: AP
Prerequisite: Calculus I
Begin with a study of the concepts of calculus, including functions, limits, derivatives. Strengthen skills and concepts from Advanced math with an emphasis on geometric, numerical and analytical and verbal expression of concepts, results and problems.
