Sport's Eligibility Policy
Rockingham County High School has many athletic teams that students may participate on if they meet the eligibility requirements established by The North Carolina High School Athletic Association and Rockingham County Schools. Along with meeting these requirements, any student trying out for a team must have a current physical on file with the athletic director.
Students participating in athletics must meet both state eligibility requirements as well as any local eligibility requirements set forth by the local school board. Students that do not meet these requirements are considered ineligible to participate in high school athletics.
Any student participating in athletics must meet the following requirements.
- students must meet requirements for promotion
- students must pass three of four classes in a block schedule
- students must have been present 85% of the previous semester
students may not participate if they turn 19 years of age prior to October 15th of the year in question
students may not have been convicted of a felony
students must live in the attendance zone of the school they attend
students have eight semesters of eligibility once entering the ninth grade
