I spent my school years growing up in Randolph County. As a Randleman High Tiger, I went to school with some of the kids from the (Richard) Petty family; that was certainly a great experience.
I started my career in education as a teaching assistant in the Thomasville City Schools. Inspired by the teacher I worked with there, I fell in love with the idea of becoming an educator. I went to High Point College on a teaching assistant scholarship. I finished in four years, working during the day and going to school at night. Upon receiving my elementary education degree, I continued to work at the same Thomasville school as an exceptional children preschool teacher. Later, I was "promoted" to kindergarten.
I taught in Randolph County for 10 years before moving to Rockingham County. I taught at the elementary level until moving to administration six years ago as assistant principal at Reidsville Middle School.
I am excited about my new position as principal of Huntsville Elementary School and look forward to getting to know all members of the Huntsville family.
