Community Eligibility Provision
The Community Eligibility Provision program will be in place for the 2018-2019 school year for the following 7 schools:
-
Central Elementary
-
Holmes Middle
-
Leaksville-Spray Elementary
-
Moss St. Partnership School Elementary
-
Reidsville High
-
Reidsville Middle
-
South End Elementary
-
SCORE Center
-
Williamsburg Elementary
The Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) provides an alternative approach for offering school meals to local educational agencies (LEAs) and schools in low income areas, instead of collecting individual applications for free and reduced price meals.
The CEP allows schools that predominantly serve low-income children to offer no cost, nutritious school meals to all students through the National School Lunch and School Breakfast Programs. The CEP uses information from other programs, including the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) and the Temporary Assistance Program for Needy Families (TANF) instead of traditional paper applications.
Special Needs & Allergies
Message to Parents of Students with Food Allergies or Special Dietary Needs
This section assists parents or guardians with children who have special dietary needs. If your child has been identified as having a disability and has special dietary needs, changes can be made to your child’s school breakfast and/or lunch at no extra charge with the proper written medical statement from your physician. Contact your child's school nurse for the form or click below for a copy of the form.
Health & Wellness Policies
Healthy Active Children Policy
In 2005, the North Carolina State Board of Education passed the Healthy Active Children Policy. The State Board recently updated the policy to reduce obesity and address hunger. The policy includes the following:
-
Local education agencies (LEAs) should establish a School Health Advisory Council (SHAC) of school, community and health representatives, families and students. SHACs should oversee the Healthy Active Children Policy, Local Wellness Policy (LWP) and coordinated school health.
-
LEAs should have a LWP that includes goals for nutrition education and promotion, physical activity, and other activities to promote student wellness.
-
K-8 schools should offer 30 minutes of physical activity every day. Elementary schools should move toward 150 minutes/week of physical education and middle school 225 minutes/week of health education with certified teachers.
-
Recess and physical activity should not be taken away as a form of punishment.
-
LEAs should have guidelines for all foods and beverages on campus, offer healthy food/beverage options for students, limit marketing to only healthy foods/beverages, offer nutrition education and choose options other than food to reward students.
-
LEAs should evaluate progress, complete annual reports, and share the results.
Visit www.ncpublicshhools.org for more info.
The board recognizes the importance of students maintaining physical health and proper nutrition in order to take advantage of educational opportunities. The board further recognizes that student wellness and proper nutrition are related to a student’s physical well-being, growth, development and readiness to learn. The board is committed to providing a school environment that promotes student wellness, proper nutrition, nutrition education and regular physical activity as part of the total learning experience.

School Meals (previously Lunch Prepay)
Payment System for School Meals: k12paymentcenter.com
Balance and meal history information are available for Premium account holders. If you are a Premium account holder, and your student hasn't made a purchase in the cafeteria in a while, the account will go dormant, generally after about 30 days. Once they make a purchase again it will "reactivate" and you will be able to see everything. The money/balance is still there, it's just not showing up on K12PaymentCenter due to inactivity. The school child nutrition office should be able to verify that the funds are still there.
Alternatively, if you are just registering, it may take several hours for our system to synch with the school district. Once this has completed, you will see balance and history.
If you have a LunchPrepay.com account, simply login with your current username and password. If you are new, register today!
