What is Interact?
Rotarians around the world participate in and administer a broad range of humanitarian and educational programs and activities designed to improve the human condition and advance the organization's ultimate goal of world understanding and peace. Programs range from scholarships and cultural exchanges to opportunities for service at the local, national and international levels.
One of the clubs is Interact—a Rotary-sponsored service club for people ages 14-18. Clubs can be school or community based and are required to carry out at least two service projects annually — one serving the school or community and another promoting international understanding.
Each club is sponsored by a local Rotary club whose members offer guidance, but Interact clubs are responsible for planning, financing, organizing, and executing their own projects.
The first Interact club was formed in Florida in 1962 and had 23 members. Today, 6,605 Interact clubs in 101 countries have an estimated 151,915 members.
