The Rockingham County Schools model for personalized learning is comprised of four main pillars:

  • Learner Profile

  • Individualized Learning Paths

  • Competency-Based Progressions

  • Flexible Learning Environment

The professional learning modules are housed in Canvas and require the learner to submit a lesson plan, implement it with students, submit student samples and reflect on their process.

Micro-Credentials/Badges

Micro-Credentials/Badges

RCS is pleased to provide a system of micro-credentials that allows educators to gain recognition for their skills and competencies. This personalized and competency-based system provides a way for us to meet the diverse needs of our teachers. Educators submit evidence, have it reviewed by experts and peers, and earn digital certification in recognition of their accomplishments.

Below you will find the micro-credentials/ badges currently offered by Rockingham County Schools. We will continue to add opportunities in effort to meet the needs of all learners/teachers. Options for Non-RCS Employees

Professional Development Options

for Non-RCS Employees

NCDPI often receives inquiries on how staff that are not in the NCEES system can access PD opportunities within the NCEES catalog.

The online professional modules offered by NCDPI are in Home Base/NCEES. Access to online PD in the Home Base system is managed through an active employee ID Number, so only current employees of North Carolina Public School Districts or Charter Schools can access Home Base.

There is no mechanism for others to access and hence use the educator resources housed in the Home Base system.

Here are a few sites that may help staff search for PD outside of NCEES. The first source is free of cost....others may have a charge associated.

NOTE: not all of these listings are endorsed by NCDPI - check and vette any searches to find what best meets credit needs. Follow local professional development policy on approval processes. Some districts require prior approval before participating in credit earning PD.
