Dress Code for SCORE Students

SCORE Center Student Dress Code

Students attending the SCORE Center are required to follow a strict dress code. While some may refer to it as a "uniform," it is more accurately described as a uniform way of dressing rather than a true uniform.

General Guidelines

  • Students must comply with the RCS Board of Education policy on Appropriate Dress.

  • Students must arrive dressed according to the dress code, including when riding the bus. Changing clothes upon arrival is not allowed.

  • Clothing must be clean, neat, and size-appropriate.

  • Clothing with holes, rips, tears, or frays is not permitted.

  • Jewelry is not allowed and must be left at home.

  • Sleepwear is strictly prohibited.

Pants

  • Students must wear TAN-colored khaki pants.

  • Cargo pants are not permitted.

  • Pants must:

    • Have belt loops

    • Be worn with a belt (no large buckles)

    • Be worn at the waist (no sagging)

    • Have shirts tucked in at all times with no blousing

  • Athletic wear is not allowed, including but not limited to:

    • Jogging pants

    • Sweatpants

    • Basketball shorts (even as undergarments)

    • Athletic jerseys

  • Tights, leggings, or similar garments are not allowed.

Shirts

  • Students must wear a polo shirt or a dress shirt with a collar.

  • Shirts must be:

    • Worn right-side out

    • Tucked in at all times

    • Not low-cut (no visible cleavage)

    • Sleeved (must cover the shoulders)

  • All shirts must have a collar.

Footwear

  • Permitted footwear includes:

    • Tennis shoes

    • Dock shoes

    • Slip-on shoes (e.g., HeyDudes)

  • The following are not permitted:

    • Flip-flops

    • Boots of any kind (including UGG's)

    • Open-toed shoes

    • Heels

    • Slippers

    • Sandals

    • Crocs

Outerwear & Accessories

  • All outerwear (hoodies, jackets, sweatshirts, etc.) must be removed and hung up upon arrival.

  • Headgear of any kind is not permitted, including:

    • Hats

    • Do-rags

    • Scarves

    • Wraps

    • Bandanas

  • Scarves may not be worn around the neck or shoulders.

Other Items

  • All Jewelry MUST be left at home, including but not limited to:  rings, necklaces, bracelets, etc…  The only exception is a studded earring.  No hoops or dangling earrings are permitted.

  • Finger nails may not be longer than ½ of an inch from the back of the cuticle.  

  • No electronic devices are permitted on campus or on the bus.  These must remain at home.  Bus drivers or students from other schools are NOT permitted to hold these items for students.  

Enforcement

  • Students not in compliance with the dress code will not be allowed to attend class until full observance with guidelines have been met. Parents should ensure students are complying with these guidelines before they leave for school.
