Battle of the Books is a program for middle school students, grades 6-8. Students at participating schools read books from a list established by the North Carolina Battle of the Books committee, and then compete in quiz-bowl-style tournaments to test their knowledge of these books.

The purpose of the Battle of the Books is to encourage reading by all students at Rockingham County Middle School. Although sponsored by the AIG Department, the competition is open to all Reidsville Middle School students who choose to participate. The game format creates interest and excitement in reading while exposing students to a variety of literary styles. "The goal is to read, not necessarily to win!" (NCSLMA)

The competition will be held at Rockingham Community College on a Date To Be Announced.
