Celebrations and Special Programs
Hispanic Heritage Month
Sponsors/Hosts: Mrs. Amanda Cannon and Ms. Nayeli Padilla
Our school celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month from September 15 to October 15. During this time, students and staff take the opportunity to learn about the rich histories, traditions, and contributions of Spanish-speaking countries and cultures.
Throughout the month, students explore different countries by learning about their flags, important historical and cultural figures, and traditional stories that are part of their heritage. Parents also play an important role in these celebrations. We end the time with a delicious meal that is provided by our Hispanic families. These activities help students gain a deeper appreciation for the diversity and cultural richness found within Hispanic communities.
Hispanic Heritage Month also provides an opportunity for our school community to honor and recognize the families and cultures represented within our school, celebrating the traditions, languages, and experiences that make our community stronger and more vibrant.

Black History Month
Sponsor/Host: Mrs. Andrea Davis
Our Black History Program celebrates the achievements and contributions of African Americans through meaningful student involvement and engagement. Students participate by presenting speeches, performing special readings or songs, and sharing biographies of influential figures. Each year, the program may also include community guests and varied activities to provide fresh experiences and broaden students’ perspectives. The program fosters confidence, cultural awareness, and a deeper understanding of history. Families and the school community are invited to join in honoring these important voices and stories. A Soul Food luncheon for staff is also included as part of the day’s celebration.

Career Day
Sponsor/Host: Mrs. Andrea Davis
Our Career Day introduces students to a variety of professions through engaging, real-world connections. Community guests—including police officers, firefighters, and local business professionals—visit with classes to share about their careers during rotating sessions. Students participate by dressing as the careers they aspire to, bringing excitement and creativity to the day. The program encourages goal setting, curiosity, and a deeper understanding of future opportunities. It is an inspiring day of hands-on learning that connects classroom lessons to real-world dreams.

PBIS Celebrations
Contact: Mr. Jason Davis and Mrs. Laryssa Hairston-Penn
Our quarterly PBIS Celebrations reward students who consistently meet school-wide and classroom behavior expectations with exciting, high-energy events throughout the year. The PBIS incentive for each quarter consists of awards and a fun activity for students who have met their PBIS goal in the classroom. Each quarter we do something fun for the students who have met their PBIS goal in the classroom - this could include dance parties, an inflatable day, water slides, movie and popcorn, and game day. These celebrations honor our students' commitment to our ROAR expectations:
R - Respect Everyone
O- Observe Safety
A- Actively Listen and Learn
R- Remember Responsibility
We also have Monthly Recognition Programs to honor one standout student from every classroom and bus who consistently models our school expectations. These celebrated "Students of the Month" receive special recognition for their leadership and positive impact on our school culture, both in the building and on the bus.
