Principal - LaRinda Neal
My name is LaRinda Redd Neal, and I am honored and excited to serve as your principal. My journey in education began over 22 years ago in Virginia, and my first teaching job, in Rockingham County, was at Douglass Elementary, where I taught first-grade. I have two sons, Christian and Isaiah, who are my constant reminder that you can love someone more than you love yourself.
I look forward to meeting or reconnecting with you all this year. I am passionate about building strong relationships, supporting student growth, and maintaining a school environment where every child feels seen, heard, and valued.
My door is always open, and as I stated during my interview, coming full circle to serve is a true privilege. That said, I welcome your ideas, feedback, and partnership as we begin this new chapter together.
Bookkeeper - Taylor Murray
Taylor Murray is a dedicated member of the Douglass school community, where she has served in her role for nearly four years, beginning in March 2022. Originally from Eden, North Carolina, Taylor earned a Bachelor of Business Administration from Campbell University, providing a strong foundation for her work in school finance and operations.
Taylor brings a diverse professional background to Douglass, having previously worked as a Trade/Sales Manager for LEVOLOR in Atlanta, Georgia. She later served as an Office Manager for both a machine shop and an acquisition company, experiences that strengthened her organizational, financial, and leadership skills.
At Douglass, Taylor manages all financial operations for the school, including teacher purchases, grant-funded allocations, field trip payments, and fundraising activities. Known for her versatility and willingness to support wherever needed, she often takes on additional roles throughout the school day, assisting with responsibilities beyond her primary duties to ensure the school runs smoothly.
Outside of work, Taylor enjoys reading—particularly romance novels—and spending time on creative hobbies such as needlepoint and cross-stitch. She lives on a farm where she raises cows, honey bees, and chickens, a fun fact that reflects her appreciation for hard work, creativity, and community.
Data Manager - Janear Johnson
Janear Johnson is the School Data Manager at Douglass Elementary School, where she brings dedication, care and deep institutional knowledge of her role. She began her journey at Douglass Elementary in October 2014 as an EC Teaching Assistant in the Functionals Skills classroom, supporting students with compassion and patience.
In January 2019, Janear transitioned into the role of School Data Manager, where she continues to serve the school community with professionalism, attention to detail, and a genuine commitment to student success. Her experience and warm presence make her a valued and trusted member of the Douglass Elementary family.
