Parents, students will be taking Check Ins this week. Testing is scheduled to begin promptly at 9:00am. The testing schedule is: 8th grade Science on Monday, 6th and 7th grade ELA on Tuesday, 8th grade ELA on Wednesday, 7th and 8th Math on Thursday and 8th grade Math and Math I on Friday. Please be sure your child gets a good night’s sleep and arrives at school on time.
Our next Title 1 Parent Night, HMS Night of Stars, will be Tuesday, Dec. 2 from 6:00pm-7:00pm. Our chorus and band will be performing in the gym. Science fair participants will be presenting in the media center. Tables will be set up in the main hallway for teacher teams to hand out progress reports and meet with parents. Popcorn and drinks will be available at the concession stand. Please plan to join us on Tuesday, December 2 for HMS Night of Stars.

Parents, please remember that tomorrow Monday, November 10 is an optional teacher workday and Tuesday, November 11 is a holiday. There will be no school for students on Monday and Tuesday this week.
Wednesday, November 13 is World Kindness Day! We encourage all of our students to recognize that this is a day to build a culture of kindness. We also encourage all students and staff to wear purple on Wednesday for World Kindness Day!
Our next PTO meeting will be this Thursday, November 13 beginning at 6:00pm in the media center.
This week kicks off our PBIS Fundraiser and Spirit Events! On Friday, November 14th, we’ll have ‘Anything But a Book Bag Day.’ Students can pay $1 to participate and bring their supplies in something creative—just make sure it’s school-appropriate and easy to carry.

Tryouts for basketball and wrestling will be Monday, November 3. Students must have a current physical on file to try out.
Picture retakes are November 4th and are only for students who missed the initial picture day or would like to retake their previous picture. Payment forms are available in the front office for either parents or students to pick up. Call the school at 336-623-9791 for more information.
Attention 6th Grade parents, The 6th Grade Haw River field trip is quickly approaching! All permission slips and the $27 payment are due by Wednesday, November 6th. Please send in payments as soon as possible to help us finalize plans. Thank you for your support—we’re looking forward to a great trip!
Parents, report cards will be sent home with students on Thursday, November 6.
Holmes will be celebrating College and Career Development on Friday, November 7th. We invite all students and staff to wear your favorite College or Career t-shirt.

Winter Sports Tryouts
Boys and Girls basketball and wrestling tryouts begin Monday, Nov. 3. Anyone trying out for girls basketball and wrestling will report to the locker rooms right after school. Any boys trying out for basketball will report to the back of the media center right after school. Below are the times for tryouts:
Wrestling-3:30-5:30 p.m. *Tryouts will run from 11/3-11/7
Girls Basketball-3:30-5:30 p.m. *Tryouts will run from 11/3-11/4
Boys Basketball-5:30-7:30 p.m. *Tryouts will run from 11/3-11/4. The time is due to only having one gym for both boys and girls to use. From 3:30-5:30 the boys will attend a study hall to work on homework and any incomplete work. They will also work on strength and conditioning skills.
IF YOUR CHILD IS PLANNING ON TRYING OUT FOR ANY OF THESE SPORTS I MUST HAVE A CURRENT SPORTS PHYSICAL ON FILE FOR THEM (attached is a copy of the sports physical). IF A THEY DO NOT HAVE A CURRENT SPORTS PHYISCAL ON FILE THEN THEY WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO TRYOUT. YOU CAN TURN IN THE SPORTS PHYSICAL TO THE FRONT OFFICE.

Student Leadership will continue selling Boo Grams in the mornings outside the cafeteria until Tuesday, October 28.
The Yearbook Club has a limited number of Yearbooks from last year (2024-2025), and the year before, (2023-2024). If you are interested in purchasing one of these yearbooks, please contact Mrs. Meadows or Mr. Moore. The cost for these Yearbooks is an amazing deal at only $20.00.

HMS Football Game Against Reidsville Middle-IMPORTANT INFORMATION
If you are planning on attending our football game at Reidsville High School today, please do NOT arrive at the game until 3:50 p.m. Their buses are parked in the parking lot where you need to park, so you will need to wait until the buses pull out after school lets out. All buses should be out of the parking lot by 3:50 p.m. Thanks for your help with this matter.
