Tia Scales in J E Holmes Middle School May 31 Weekly Update for the Week of May 25, 2026 Good evening, Mustang Families! This is Ms. Scales with your weekly message. We will have retesting this week. Our plan is to have 6th and 7th grade Math and 8th grade Science retesting on Monday, 6th, 7th and 8th grade ELA retesting on Tuesday and 8th grade Math retesting on Wednesday. Please help ensure that students get a good night's sleep, eat a healthy breakfast, and arrive at school on time for their retesting session. Our End-of-Year Floating Awards Program for 6th, 7th and 8th grades will be held on Tuesday, June 2 starting at 4:30pm to 6:00pm. Our 8th Grade Promotion Program will be held on Thursday, June 4 at 9:30am in the MHS Auditorium. The last day of school is Thursday, June 4 and it is an early release day. Students will be dismissed at 1:30 pm. If your child is a car rider, please be sure their ride is here at 1:30 pm. Report cards and all other student belongings will be sent home with all students Thursday, June 4. As we wrap up another school year, I want to thank all of our parents and guardians for your support and partnership throughout the year. We are proud of all that our students have accomplished this year and appreciate everything you have done to support them along the way. We hope everyone has a safe and wonderful summer! Weekly Update for the Week of May 25, 2026

Good evening, Mustang Families! This is Ms. Scales with your weekly message.



Please remember that tomorrow is a holiday and there will be no school for students tomorrow, Monday, May 25.



EOG testing will continue this week. Eighth graders will take the Science EOG on Tuesday, Math EOG on Wednesday and ELA EOG on Thursday. Our students worked hard last week and we know that will continue into this week.



Sixth and seventh graders received Math results on Friday and ELA results will be sent home on Tuesday. Remediation will begin on Tuesday as we prepare for retesting. This year, we are able to retest before school ends for the summer. Please contact the school if you have questions about remediation and retesting.



HMS will offer free sport physicals on Thursday, May 28 starting at 3:30pm until 5:15pm. Please remember that a parent or guardian must be present at the time of the physical.



Our End-of-Year Floating Awards Program for 6th, 7th and 8th grades will be held on Tuesday, June 2 starting at 4:30pm to 6:00pm. Our 8th Grade Promotion Program will be held on Thursday, June 4 at 9:30am in the MHS Auditorium.

Mike Hodges in J E Holmes Middle School May 20 'Twas the night before testing Good evening families, To prepare everyone for testing, we want to remind everyone that student cell phones are not permitted in any test session to prevent any testing irregularity. Student cell phones will be collected before testing begins, securely stored in the testing room, and returned to students once the testing session has been completed. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation. Electronic devices other than cell phones, such as smart watches, tablets and any other devices are encouraged to remain at home. Our students and staff have worked extremely hard and we look forward to seeing what they can accomplish in the coming days.

Good evening, Mustang Families! This is Ms. Scales with your weekly message. Our Spring Chorus Concert will be held on Tuesday, May 19 in the MHS Auditorium at 7pm. Our chorus students have worked incredibly hard this year, and we hope you will join us for this special performance! EOG testing starts this week. Sixth and seventh grade students will take the Math EOG on Thursday and the ELA EOG on Friday. It is extremely important that all students arrive at school on time. All testing sessions will begin promptly at 9:00am. Students who arrive after this time will not be allowed to enter their testing session and will have to complete testing on the make-up day. This week's athletics includes: May 6 - Track at RHS 7 - Baseball vs. WRMS (Home) We are excited to recognize our amazing staff this week for Staff Appreciation Week! With the support of our PTO, we will be celebrating our staff all week long. We encourage you to take a moment to thank your child’s teacher and other staff members for all that they do each and every day to support our students and school community. Our Spring Band Concert will be held on Tuesday, May 5 in the MHS Auditorium. Sixth grade will perform at 6:00pm, followed by 7th and 8th grade at 7:00pm. Our band students have worked incredibly hard this year, and we hope you will join us for this special performance! Wednesday, May 6 is National School Nurse Day!
