Western Rockingham Middle School

Western Rockingham Middle School, located in Madison, North Carolina serves approximately 550 students in grades 6–8. As a proud Wildcat community, our school reflects the diverse backgrounds and experiences of Rockingham County, fostering an inclusive environment where all students are valued and supported.

Established in 1991, Western Rockingham Middle School has a rich history rooted in community and tradition. The school is located on the former Madison-Mayodan High School site and continues to serve as a central hub for students and families in the western part of the county.

At WRMS, we are committed to providing a well-rounded educational experience that meets the academic, social, and emotional needs of every student. Our curriculum is aligned with the North Carolina Standard Course of Study and is enhanced through the integration of technology, hands-on learning, and cross-curricular instruction. Students have access to a wide range of opportunities, including advanced coursework, Career and Technical Education, arts programs, and a Gifted and Talented program.

Beyond the classroom, Western Rockingham offers a variety of extracurricular activities and athletics designed to help students explore their interests and build leadership skills. Students can participate in clubs such as Battle of the Books, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, band, drama, and chorus, as well as compete in a full range of middle school sports including football, basketball, soccer, volleyball, and track.
