EOG attendance: Each day your class has perfect attendance during EOGs (May 28, 29, and 30), your class will have a ticket entered into a drawing for an ice cream party! This is for all classes K-5. Any class that has perfect attendance for ALL THREE days will win donuts!

Good evening, Leaksville-Spray families. This is Ms. Scales with your weekly message. We will be welcoming Morehead seniors on Monday, May 19 for the Senior Walk. Our former Dolphins who came through Leaksville-Spray Elementary will walk the halls one last time before they graduate. Please help us celebrate the Morehead seniors by wearing red and black. All books checked out in the media center should be returned. We are asking parents to help us by making sure your child returns their books. There is a scheduled early release day on Friday, May 23 and all students will be dismissed at 12:45pm. Also, please remember that Monday, May 26th is a holiday. There will be no school for students Monday, May 26th. Lastly, parents as we near the end of the school year, please remember how important it is for your child to be at school on time each day. We’re in the home stretch! The final weeks of school are packed with exciting events. Please take a moment to review the upcoming activities scheduled for May and June. If you have questions about your child’s progress, please contact your child’s teacher. Special Olympics is scheduled for this Friday, May 2. We are so excited for our students and know they will do great! In honor of our athletes, we encourage everyone to participate in spirit week this week. Monday is “Go For The Gold” day and students can wear sports/jersey team attire. Tuesday is “Teamwork Makes the Dream Work” day and students can wear school appropriate pajamas or comfy clothing. Wednesday is “Shine With Kindness” day and students can wear colorful or neon clothing. Thursday is “Light it Up Blue” day and students are encouraged to wear blue for Autism Awareness. Friday is “LSE Spirit” day and students can wear green or LSE attire. On Friday, staff and students will line the hallways to cheer for our students and wish them well. The All County Art Show reception and awards ceremony is scheduled for this Friday, May 2 at 6:00pm at Rockingham County Community College. Congratulations to all of our participants and winners! Student artwork will be displayed throughout this week at RCC for everyone to view and enjoy. The kindergarten registration window for the 2025-2026 school year will open April 22nd.If you have a rising kindergarten, LSE will have a registration event on April 24th. This Title I event will begin with Kindergarten Registration starting at 4:00pm until 6:30pm. Also on April 24th, LSE will have our Move Up Night of all current students beginning at 5:30pm until 7:00pm. Please make plans to join us on Thursday, April 24th. Please go ahead and mark your calendars! Our end of year awards assemblies are scheduled. Kindergarten- Tuesday, June 3 1st and 2nd grade- Wednesday, June 4 3rd and 4th grade- Thursday, June 5 5th grade- Friday, June 6 Parents, don’t forget that there is no school for students tomorrow, Monday, April 21st. On Monday, April 7, 3rd-5th grade students will take the reading check in and the math check in on Tuesday, April 8. Testing is scheduled to begin promptly at 8:30am. Please be sure your child gets a good night’s sleep and arrives at school on time. Kindergarten registration for the 2025-2026 school year will begin April 22nd. LSE will have a registration event on April 24th. Please help us spread the word about kindergarten registration. Lastly, please remember that it is important for your child to be at school on time everyday. Your child is tardy if they arrive after 7:45am and no staff is outside to help with arrival.
