The RCS Board of Education has accepted two draft calendars for public comment for the 2025-2026 school year. Kindergarten students read "The Biggest Snowman" in the library. They built their own snowmen with marshmallows.

We are excited to announce our upcoming Kindergarten Registration Night for the 2025-2026 school year! This is an important opportunity to register your child and learn more about starting their educational journey at John W. Dillard Academy.

To ensure a smooth registration process, please bring the following required documents:
Certified copy of your child’s birth certificate
Proof of residence (e.g., utility bill, rental lease, or property tax notice with your address)
Immunization records
Parent or guardian’s driver’s license
Legal custody paperwork (if applicable)
Important Notes:
Only a parent or legal guardian can register a child for enrollment.
Your child should attend the registration night with you.
Age Eligibility:
Children must turn 5 years old on or before August 31, 2025, to be eligible for kindergarten.

The Edulog Bus Portal app provides RCS families with planned time and location information for your child’s bus ride to and from school. The app will show you the GPS location of the bus and send you a push notification when it is nearing the student’s bus stop. This app is free.

📢 Attention RCS Families:
Due to lingering snow and ice on roads and neighborhoods, RCS will have a remote learning day for students tomorrow, January 13th. All RCS buildings will open at 10:00 am. Updates to the school calendar for the remainder of January will be shared soon.

We had a great first day back yesterday. Kindergarten students had fun with winter activities. We hope you stay safe and have fun with your own winter activities this weekend.

Rockingham County Schools will have a remote learning day for all students, tomorrow, January 10, 2025 due to the forecast of inclement weather. Childcare will be available in the morning as scheduled and close at 12:00pm.

With the inclement weather forecast for our area tomorrow, RCS is considering our options including a remote learning day for students. We will be providing additional information on our websites, social media and the local news later this evening.
