Coach Marty Woods of the DMHS Girls Volleyball Team is one of two AVCA Girls High School Coaches of the Year! This year, the veteran coach led Dalton McMichael volleyball to the Class 2A state championship. This was the second time in the past three seasons the Phoenix had captured the state title, as her team also lifted the trophy in 2022.
Already the winningest volleyball coach in North Carolina history, Woods led her 2024 squad to a 30-2 record, which gives her 836 victories. This was her 47th year as the varsity volleyball coach at her school and she has led her teams to 46-straight winning seasons.
Coach Woods was the NCVBCA 2A Coach of the Year in 2024, elected to NCHSAA Hall of Fame in 2016 and was the Naismith Coach of the Year in 2015!! Congrats Coach Woods!!!
