Digital Citizenship Weekly Tip
Regularly Update Passwords
1. Regularly updating and securing your passwords is essential for protecting your online accounts.
2. Create strong passwords that use a mix of letters, numbers, and symbols, and avoid common words or easy-to-guess combinations.
3. Change your passwords periodically and not reuse the same ones across multiple sites.
Consider using a password manager to keep track of your different passwords securely. These steps help defend against hackers and keep your digital information safe.

Digital Citizen Tip Of the Week:
Be careful what you say/post. It could have a lasting impact. Why? In an article posted on military.com in early 2023, the author lists some of the following reasons to be careful about what you post:
1. Nothing is private. While you might believe you are sharing content only with certain people, remember that if you type it into an electronic device, you have made it accessible to others. Your friends all have friends. Unless you check your privacy settings frequently, online social media sites are constantly upgrading and updating them, making it easier for your contacts or friends of friends to access and share your information.
2. Content has a longer shelf life. The days of Snapchat images disappearing not long after you posted them are gone. Saved screenshots, photos, and posts along with certain archiving on many social media sites make it possible to save your content without your knowledge or consent. Your posts are searchable.
3. Sites like Twitter, Facebook, and LinkedIn for example, have search features that promote trending topics where your content can become searchable by a greater number of people you do not know.

Weekly Digital Citizenship Tip/Quote is:
Know who you're "talking" to online. Let's face it, there's no way to be sure WHO you're talking to on the Web unless you know that person face to face in your school, church, or neighborhood. Passwords get stolen, friends "borrow" each other's accounts, and people just plain lie. According to an article on Internet Safety Statistics published in February 2023, about one in seven persons under the age of 18 with online social media accounts received contact by an online predator with one in 25 receiving a sexual solicitation online. If you don't know the person online anywhere but online, be safe and don't share personal information.
