Sunday, November 16th

Greetings Raider Nation,

We would like to send out a special thank you to our neighbors Reidsville Christian Church for blessing us with their fellowship and service this past Saturday. Members of the church spent several hours at the school taking part in projects that continue to help make our school a more welcoming environment for students and staff. Pictures of the cleanup and maintenance work that took place will be sent out on Dojo and Facebook soon. 

 

This week state Check-ins exams will be taking place all week at school. 

Winter Sports begin this week with basketball and wrestling both in action

Monday basketball will play a home game against Holmes Middle with girls basketball beginning at 4:15. Wrestling will travel to Western Rockingham Middle

On Thursday basketball will travel to Dillard Middle School and Wrestling will host Holmes Middle

MACC team will meet with Ms. Hanks 8:00 - 8:30 Tuesday and Thursday mornings this week

Tuesday, November 11th

Greetings Raider Nation,

We first want to take a moment to send out appreciation for all our Raider Family members that are now or have in the past been in service to our country. We hope all Raider families have been able to enjoy this long weekend together and been able to have a moment of thanks for our veterans who protect our nation. 

This week is just a 3 day week and basketball and wrestling will have practices but games will not commence until Monday November 17th. 

The week of November 17th through the 21st the whole school will be taking part in the first round of state check-in testing.


Sunday November 2nd

Greetings Raider Nation,

This Monday will be the start of the 2nd Quarter of the year. Final grades for Fall semester will be the average of 1st quarter and 2nd quarter. 

In sports this week: 

Monday the football team will play at Rockingham County Middle at 4:00 pm in the conference championship game. 

Girls Basketball: (Monday Workouts: 6:30-7:30) 

Tryouts Nov 4th 4:00-5:30 Regular Practice begins Wednesday 

Boys Basketball: Tryouts Nov 4th 5:30-7:00 & Wednesday 3:45-5:30  Regular Practice Schedule will follow. 

Wrestling: Tryouts Tuesday and Wednesday 4:00-6:00

The 6th Grade Band will have their first performance on Thursday in the Gymnasium starting at 6:00 P.M. This will be a portion of their grade for the 2nd quarter. Please contact Mr. Davis for any other questions you may have about the event.

Attention Parents of Drama Class Students:

This is a friendly reminder that all permission forms and field trip fees for our trip on Friday, November 7th are due tomorrow. If your child has not yet turned in their form and payment, please make sure both are submitted by the end of the day tomorrow.

Attention all DRAMA CLUB Students:

Drama Club Meeting will convene on Wednesday, Nov. 5 from the time school is dismissed to 5:00 pm. This is a mandatory meeting. Upon dismissal from last class, students will meet in the Media Center and transition to the Chorus Room.

Parents, please provide transportation or plan for pick-up at 5:00 pm.


Sunday October, 26th

Greetings Raider Nation,

This week school will only be in session for students Monday through Wednesday as we finish up the first quarter. Thursday and Friday and Teacher Workdays. 

As we continue Red Ribbon spirit week festivities Monday is Wacky Tacky Day, Tuesday is Rock the Red Carpet (students should dress their best), and Wednesday is Student Teacher swap where students should dress like one of the staff members. 

Parents as we get to colder weather please be reminded that NO blankets are allowed in the building due to concerns with health and contamination from insects. 

This week in Sports:

Boys Soccer will play for the Conference Championship at Western Rockingham on Tuesday the 28th and Football will play for the Conference Championship at Rockingham Middle on Wednesday the 29th.

Thursday Oct 23rd the 8th grade Football players and Cheerleaders will be recognized at the Pinkout playoff game.

Monday starts the basketball cheer season practices, All mentees/ Alternates are required to attend unless specified.

We just want to take the time to send out a special shoutout to our 6th graders that went on a field trip to the zoo today. The behavior by the entire group was excellent and an awesome way to show how terrific our kids are.

Thursday October, 16th

Greetings, Raider Nation,

Good afternoon 6th grade parents / guardians! The time has come! We are going to the Asheboro Zoo tomorrow, Friday October 17th. Students will need to be at the school no later than 8am tomorrow so they can eat breakfast and we can depart on time. School bag lunches will be provided. We will be back in time for them to ride the bus home. Please email Ms. Cherry or Ms. Solomon if you have any questions!


Sunday October, 12th

Greetings Raider Nation,

This week students will be taking part in some in house bench mark testing. At mid week expect an all call and messages with links with information regarding scheduling parent teacher conferences as we approach the end of the quarter. 

The 6th grade field trip to the Asheboro Zoo will take place this Friday October 17th. Permission slips and money are due this Thursday, October 16th. As a reminder, students need a 70 or above in their core classes and no write ups to be able to attend this field trip. If you have any questions please reach out to Ms. Cherry or Ms. Solomon.

The school science fair will be on November 13th. Students who filled out the interest form should check their school email for more information. They will also receive a packet from their homebase teacher on Tuesday. If you have questions please contact Ms. Singleton

8th grade students will visit the Courthouse this week. Please turn in permission slips by Monday. This includes the survey permission slips that were passed out this past week.

This week at RMS, we will be celebrating Hispanic Heritage month with a spirit week and other activities at school. 

Mon: Jersey Day - Wear your favorite sport jersey!

Tues: Vaquero Day - Dress like a cowboy!

Wed: Highlight Hispanic Heritage Month with Neon Colors!

Thurs: Flag Day - Wear the colors of a Hispanic/Latino country!

Friday: Si Se Puede - Wear your favorite college shirt!

The school science fair will be on November 13th. If your child is interested there is a Google Form posted in Canvas and on Classdojo. More information will be given to students who fill out the form.

Sunday September 28

Greetings Raider Nation,

8th Grade students received their permission slips and a letter about the annual courthouse visit last week. Please return permission slips by October 6th.

In sports this week: Weather permitting

This Monday is the  last home game of the season for boys soccer and it is 8th grade night. We will be facing Rockingham county  middle at 4:00pm

Softball will host Western Rockingham at 4:00pm

Winter Cheerleading Tryouts will be this week. Monday-Wednesday are clinic days. No clinics on Thursday. Tryout day will be Friday. Be prepared! Upload a current physical to Dragonfly and bring current grades.

Come out and fellowship with FCA (Fellowship for Christian Athletes) on Friday, October 3rd from 3:35-4:45 in the gym at Reidsville Middle School. This is a free event. Students do not have to be an athlete to participate as all students are invited. Please be sure that students are promptly picked up.

Sunday September 21

Greetings Raider Nation,

This week school will be out for students on Thursday and Friday for teacher workdays. In order to take advantage of those workdays and ensure grades are as up to date as possible we will be distributing Progress Reports on Monday September 29th. 

6th grade will be taking a field trip to the Asheboro Zoo on October 17th and the cost is $8. Permission slips will go home Monday September 22nd. School bag lunches will be provided. Students will need to be dropped off at the school by 8am and they will return in time to take the bus home. Please reach out to Ms. Cherry or Ms. Solomon with any questions.

Beginning immediately, students should no longer bring instant noodles to school for lunch. These meals take a long time to heat in the microwave, which causes delays and has become a recurring issue in the lunchroom. Additionally, we ask that students do not bring energy drinks of any kind to school. 

In sports this week 

On Monday: RMS Softball will play at Holmes and RMS Boys Soccer will play at home against Holmes

Football this week will be moved to Wednesday afternoon due to the teacher workdays and Wednesday RMS will travel to Rockingham Middle School.

Boys soccer game on Monday September 8th has been changed to start at 3:45 at Rockingham Middle.

First interest meeting for photography/ News club will be held after school on Tuesday September 9th until 4:30pm. If your student is interested in photography or Journalism, contributing to the school News or yearbook, and attending a variety of after school events and activities representing RMS, please consider attending.” students will be volunteering to attend several after school events per quarter so having a frequent ride after school is important.

Monday September 1st,

Greetings Raider Nation,

FCA, Fellowship of Christian Athletes will have their first meeting on this Friday, September 5th from 3:35-4:45. All rides must be picked up on time and no later than 4:45 or they will not be able to return for the next session. All students are welcome to attend this free event for fun, fellowship and a snack.

Boys Soccer will host a meeting at 5:00pm on Tuesday September 2nd for all soccer players’ and their parents in the school cafeteria to go over the handbook and ensure all files in dragonfly have been finalized. 

RMS Football will host their annual preseason Jamboree on Saturday September 6th. Entry cost is $5 per person

Attention Career Exploration students: Please return your signed Lab Safety Contract if you have not already done so.

Parents please be sure to speak with your students about being in dress code at school. Hats and hoods are not allowed in the building, Mid Drifts cannot be visible, Shoulder straps must be 3 fingers in width and tight enough in the arm opening to prevent undergarments from being visible. Shorts and skirts must come down far enough to touch the fingers while their arms straight down by the sides.

We want to welcome everyone back for the start of the 2025-2026 School Year. Please be sure to follow the school Facebook page and check with the school website for regular announcements. RMS also utilizes  Dojo for grade, class or sport specific messaging. These are meant as a form of announcements and not interaction. In order to interact with teachers please use official RCS email or schedule parent-teacher conferences. 

Boys Soccer will begin Tryouts on Wednesday August 27th from 3:30 to 5:30. Players must have rides at the school by 5:30.

This week will be a full week and students will start by learning policies and procedures.

We look forward to a great year of continued growth and improvement.

Sunday August 17th

Greetings Raider Nation,

We want to welcome everyone to the 2025-2026 School year. This week Raider Football will begin normal practices from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm each night, Monday through Friday. All players must have a current physical on file, and be in good academic standing in order to participate. All other fall sports besides cheerleading will begin tryouts after the school year has started. 

This Wednesday RMS will host Open House Night. 6th graders will have priority from 3:00pm until 5:00pm and from 5:00pm until 7:00pm it is total access for all grades. 

6th grade parents please be sure to take the time to get a thorough explanation of the car line procedures for those that are car riders. The staff parking lot is not to be used for drop off and pickup due to safety restrictions. 

Supply lists will be posted on Monday to the school website and Facebook pages and available for pickup at Open House.
