John O. Stover III sworn in as New RCS Superintendent July 1
John O. Stover III was sworn in as the new Superintendent of Rockingham County Schools the morning of Friday, July 1 at 9:00 a.m.. Mr. Stover was sworn in by Superior Court Judge Ed Wilson in the downstairs boardroom at Central Office.
“I believe in we,” Mr. Stover said moments after being sworn in as RCS’s new Superintendent. "We is what enabled a group of patriots to come together and form our great nation. We is what enabled us to come out of the Great Depression, victorious in World War II. We is what also enabled us to come together as a nation to end racial segregation. And we is what makes us the most powerful nation ever in the history of humankind.”
“In schools, we is powerful. In the classroom, the we of a student and teacher is what moves our kids. Add onto that our parents and our community, and you have an unstoppable force. At the district level, we at Central Office, and the Board of Education working collaboratively with our schools and our community, is what is going to make us a great school district.”

July RCS Board of Education Meeting scheduled for Monday, July 18
The Rockingham County Schools Board of Education will hold its July monthly meeting on the evening of Monday, July 18 in the downstairs Meeting Board Room at Central Office, located at 511 Harrington Highway in Eden. The meeting will begin at 6:00 p.m.. The agenda for the July 18 meeting will be attached below once it is available. There are no Work Sessions scheduled for the months of June and July.
RCS requests parents plan for required Health Assessments, Immunizations
RCS asks all parents of students within the district to please look at this Health Assessment and Immunization reminder for the deadlines that may affect your children. Please make plans for your student to obtain the required immunizations and/or health assessment by contacting their healthcare provider, the Rockingham County Health Department, or the Student Health Centers (traditional high schools only). Please plan to discuss at your visit other recommended immunizations and screenings that may benefit your student. Once documents are completed, please submit them to your school nurse. Failure to submit the requirements by the deadline date requires student exclusion until documents are on file, per NC G.S. 130A-155. For questions, please contact your school nurse.
RCS seeking to hire new Director of Maintenance
Rockingham County Schools is currently looking to hire a Director of Maintenance. An employee in this position is responsible for a large variety of facility maintenance duties throughout the school system. This includes the maintenance of physical facilities of General Maintenance, including Carpentry, Electrical, HVAC, Plumbing, Painting, and Small Capital Projects. Work includes planning, organizing, and providing leadership in the delivery of services. A Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field, with five or more years of supervisory or management experience in construction or building maintenance is preferred, or in lieu of a Bachelor’s Degree, any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required skills, knowledge, and abilities. Possession of a valid driver’s license issued by the State of North Carolina is required.

If you are a present employee in Rockingham County Schools, a letter of intent outlining your qualification and an updated resume are required for consideration. School-Age Childcare - Serving RCS Students K - 6th Grade
Our Programs all hold at least a 3-star rating from the Division of Child Development and operate under the supervision of a principal, program administrator, and program specialist.
All Sites consist of a Director, Group leaders, and Subs. All Staff are required to complete regular training and are up to date on all health and safety standards.
We offer a wide range of childcare options, including before, after, and all day care; as well as teacher workdays, and summer care.
Annual Registration/Supply Fee: $55
Before School Care: $4
After School Care: $10 per day
All Day Care: $20
We also accept VOUCHERS as payment from the Department of Social Services!
Before School: 6:30am-7:45 am
After School: 2:45 pm- 6:00 pm
All Day Care: 6:30 am- 6:00 pm
Parental involvement is critical to a child's education. That's why RCS has provided a user-friendly web application to help parents and families become more involved in education. Parents can check their attendance reports, grades, and other items from any computer, any time using PowerSchool. To set this up, you must go to your school for privacy issues! The data manager will help you with your username and password and will provide an instruction guide!
RCS and UNC-Greensboro offer Teacher Residency Program

Rockingham County Schools is partnering with UNCG to offer a Teacher Residency Program. Please see the important details regarding this opportunity at the link below.
Individuals selected must currently have an undergraduate degree with a GPA of 3.00. Individuals will receive a $40,000 stipend to complete their Master's Degree over the course of 18 months. In exchange, applicants agree to teach in Rockingham County for three years. Opportunities exist for elementary and secondary content areas as well as Exceptional Children areas of study. Individuals currently teaching are not eligible for this program, as this is a recruitment opportunity designed to recruit new teachers into the profession.
