Dr. Haynes, RHS Principal

Rockingham County Schools is pleased to announce that Dr. Bertrand Haynes has been selected as the next Principal of Reidsville High School, effective September 2, 2025.

Dr. Haynes, a proud native of the twin Caribbean islands of Trinidad and Tobago, previously served as an Assistant Principal at Reidsville High School. He brings over twenty years of educational experience spanning middle school through post-secondary education, and has held various impactful roles including Intervention Specialist, Transition Coordinator, School Counselor, Dean of Students, High School Soccer Coach, and Director of Student Support Services at Florida A&M University. He also served as Executive Director of TRIO Programs and Director of the Ronald E. McNair Program at North Carolina A&T State University, and taught sociology and psychology courses as an adjunct instructor at the community college level.

Dr. Haynes also has an impressive athletic background, having represented Trinidad & Tobago as captain of the U-19 National Soccer Team and as a member of the National Soccer Team.

"I am thrilled to bring my diverse skills as an educator and leader to Reidsville High School," said Dr. Haynes. "I’m especially excited to contribute a new and innovative approach to our school community. I believe that student safety and success should be at the center of every decision we make."

Dr. Haynes views education as a life-long journey and is eager to learn more about the unique culture and traditions of Reidsville High School. His student-centered philosophy and commitment to building strong relationships with teachers, families, and the community will guide his leadership.

"I encourage families and community members to stop by and introduce themselves. I am beyond excited to meet all of you and work together as partners in education," he added.
