Rockingham County Schools announced several administrative changes involving school leadership, effective Monday, October 6. These mid-year transitions are strategic reassignments designed to take advantage of the strengths of each school administrator and better align administrative expertise with the needs of individual schools and the district’s overall improvement goals.
“Our commitment is first and always to provide the best possible learning environment for every
student,” said Dr. Stover. “After careful consideration of our district's strategic priorities, and in
consultation with our leadership team and Board of Education, we have made these principal changes. We believe these reassignments will allow us to meet our goals of effectively driving instructional excellence and fostering excellent care and support across our district.”
The following principal changes are being announced:
● Dr. Christy Bailey will move from Principal of Holmes Middle School to principal of Leaksville-Spray Elementary School.
● Ms. Tia Scales will move from principal of Leaksville-Spray Elementary School to principal of Holmes Middle School.
● Michelle Casto, current assistant principal at Western Rockingham Middle School, will be appointed as the interim Principal of Huntsville Elementary School.
● Nathan Ziglar, current principal of Huntsville Elementary School, will become the assistant principal at Western Rockingham Middle School.
● Misty Corum, current assistant principal of Bethany Elementary School, will serve as assistant principal at Rockingham County High School.
Dr. Stover emphasized that these shifts reflect a commitment to continuous improvement and confidence that the school teams in place will ensure the incoming administrators will smoothly
integrate into their new school setting. “We recognize that mid-year changes can bring a period of adjustment,” Dr. Stover added. “However, our administrators are dedicated professionals, and the district will ensure a smooth and supportive transition process for all staff, students, and families in the affected schools. We are confident that these leaders will hit the ground running and continue the excellent work already underway.” The District will facilitate meet-and-greet sessions for parents in the coming weeks to introduce the new principals to their respective school communities.
