Rockingham County Schools is pleased to announce that Paul Moore has been selected to serve as a Board Member representing District 3. Mr. Moore’s term will expire in 2028. Mr. Moore replaces Vickie McKinney, who resigned from her position in October.
Rockingham County Schools Superintendent, Shawn Stover, commented, “I am honored that Mr. Moore has chosen to serve the students of Rockingham County Schools as a Board member. I have often collaborated with Mr. Moore and know what a strong advocate he is for both our students and our school system. I look forward to working with him to ensure the students of RCS graduate choice ready.”
Paul Moore is an Eden native who graduated from Morehead High School. After high school, he joined the United States Army, where he served in the Eighty Second Airborne Division. After serving honorably for six and a half years, he returned to Eden and obtained an associate’s degree in Criminal Justice Technologies from Rockingham Community College. He is a graduate of the NC Association of the Chiefs of Police Institute, the North Carolina School of Government Municipal and County Administration Course, and the Piedmont Leadership Academy. Moore also holds an advanced law enforcement certificate from the NC Criminal Justice Education, Training and Standards Commission.
Moore is currently employed as the Police Chief for the City of Eden. He began his career with the Eden Police Department in August of 2003. Moore has held numerous police roles throughout his career to include the following: patrol officer, criminal investigations, lead crime scene investigator, criminal investigations sergeant, patrol sergeant, patrol lieutenant, administrative captain, and deputy police chief.
Moore is an active member of the community, where he serves as a member of the Rockingham County Juvenile Crime Prevention Council, the Genesis Ministries Board of Directors, and as a deacon for the Draper Christian Church Congregation. In the past, he has volunteered as a Junior Olympic volleyball coach, assistant Morehead High School softball coach, Morehead High School athletic trainer, Eden Boys and Girls Club Safety Board member, Eden Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors member, and as an advisory board member for the Piedmont Leadership Academy.
Moore and his wife Stephanie have been married for 34 years and are the proud parents of three children and two grandchildren.
